What's New?
It's been about a year (March, 2018) since I re-modeled the website, so I thought it was time to fix a few things. Check this area for changes. The latest update to any pages was March, 2019.

About the Site
Glad you made it. This site has been around in one way or another since the last century.. really. This particular iteration is probably where it should have started to begin with.
As for me.. I'm a jack of all trades, and I'm not afraid to learn new ones. In my opinion learning never stops, nor should it.
Right now
Too many projects! Some of the projects I'm working on started in the 80's, and others are spread out on the timeline between then and now.
I've been into electronics and music since I was a little kid, and even though I stopped making "doo-dads" for years, my interest in it never quit. Things have changed dramatically since the 80's and 90's, one of the best changes being easily programmable IC chips. Take a look at the Electronic Projects page for more info on some of my ancient projects as well as all of the new ones. The Arduino and ATTINY page has more information related to programmable IC's and projects of that type. Think Arduino but smaller and cheaper.
All of these electronic projects need to go somewhere, and a printed circuit board is just the right place. If you're interested in that sort of thing, head over to the PCB Creation page for my experiences with this stuff.
The Music and MIDI page is here as a reference on how I create music and use MIDI software and hardware. I'm not an expert in either music or MIDI, but I've been dabbling for years and have picked up a few things. I've recently become an Ubuntu Studio disciple. It's a flavor of Linux based on Ubuntu with a low-latency or real-time/pre-emptive kernel (I upgraded from 16.04 LTS). Ubuntu Studio is tuned for audio and video, and comes with a bunch of awesome software. My old favorite was Planet CCRMA, but it's Fedora based, and I happen to like Ubuntu these days.
For a fairly large chunk of time I was helping test the CHDK and SDM software for the Canon SX130is in order to create stereo images and video. There may still be some of my original stuff out there, but it's been long enough that I rather doubt it. For more info, and some project information, check out the 3D and Creative Photography page.
With regards to graphics, all of the graphics on this site were touched in some way by GIMP or Inkscape, both free and part of Ubuntu/Ubuntu Studio. I own Coreldraw and Illustrator, and know how to use both, but my versions are antiquated, and I don't want to pay any more money (or use Windows). This is why I gravitated towards Inkscape, which is free and honestly compares to the others. I used Inkscape for all of the circuit designs and silkscreens, and I recommend it regardless of your OS.
Site Layout
The site has been designed to be easy to navigate and find information. Each of the sections has a similar look and feel, with a few different elements to differentiate them.
If it's here, you should be able to find what you're looking for and any related information, even if it's in another section.
Why this particular layout? I don't appreciate having to read a bunch of information I'm not interested in in order to find what I'm looking for. Ideally, each section is consice enough to provide that experience.
Purpose
Why did I bother making this site?
- To save others from spending time searching for resources.
- To share some of my ideas.
- To collect similar ideas in one spot.
- The old site was a miserable excuse for a website!
